Education & Experience:
I
have a total of seven years of experience in the classroom. I
have taught all grade levels K-5 in Fayette and Nelson
Counties. I taught 1st/2nd grade at
Meadowthorpe Elementary, 3rd grade at Cox’s Creek
Elementary, 4th/5th grade at Dixie
Elementary, and K/1 at Rosa Parks Elementary. I received my
undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of
Kentucky, in Elementary Education and a Masters in Reading. I
also received my certification as a principal from the
University of Kentucky, earning my Rank I last summer. I am
currently working on an Educational Specialist degree in
Administration with a concentration in school readiness and
parental involvement. I am looking forward to serve as your
principal at Fannie Bush Elementary and working together to
continue to make Fannie Bush the best in the district. |
Favorite Children's Book and/or Author:
I love
children’s literature. There are many great books for children
to read, and I have difficulty choosing just one, so I am
choosing my top three children’s authors.
Chris Van Allsburg , the author of great books like the
Polar Express, The Widow’s Broom, Two Bad Ants, The Stranger,
and Jumanji. I like his books because he combines
mystery with fantasy and brings the reader into his stories.
Another favorite author is Patricia Polacco. She writes a
lot about her personal life when she was growing up. We all have
stories to tell and she does a great job explaining her
childhood in books like: My Rotten Red-Headed Older Brother,
My Ol’ Man, and Thank You, Mr. Falker.
Richard Peck is a young author’s writer. I like him
because his books are very entertaining and make you laugh as
you read. Two of his must read books are: A Long Way from
Chicago and the sequel, A Year Down Yonder. |

Educational Interests:
My interest in education is to instill life-long learning into
every child. I am currently working on research in school
readiness and the importance of parental involvement. Every
child and family is unique and special and brings with them many
experiences that are sometimes overlooked by schools. I hope to
bridge those gaps between schools and families and to make
school a great place to be. |

Hobbies: I
have a large family, so it is difficult to have a specific
hobby, but I enjoy reading, gardening, and decorating. At home,
I spend time outside planting trees and shrubs or sitting on my
back porch reading a book. I like going to the library and
visiting Joseph-Beth Bookstore. |
